RICK JOYNER - AN ESOTERIC FALSE PROPHET FOR THE NEW AGE
"THE FINAL QUEST," SYMBOLISM AND METAPHOR OF OCCULT PATHWORKING, ESOTERIC "ONENESS," ANIMAL & ANGEL SPIRIT GUIDES, DIVINATION, AND ASTRAL TRAVEL
SHAMAN - TRIBAL DRUMMING DEFINED:
The Dictionary of the Esoteric, Nevill Drury, Watkins Publishing, Page 283:
Shaman, Shamaness - "A sorcerer, magician or spirit-healer who is able to enter a trance state under will and who serves as an intermediary between people and the realm of gods and spirits. Shamans make use of drums, ritual objects, and ceremonial costume in identifying with the gods; and they often enter a state of trance in order to undertake a journey of the soul."

The reader may find the nature of my documentation of source redundant within this article of research. By way of repetition, I hope to note facts by quoting both source and links. In order to further emphasize the need for educated knowledge concerning "false prophetic" New Age - Metaphysical seer ministries, outreaches (both secular and Christian alike), and the lack of Biblical knowledge within the minds of the people they often attract. One must be leery of those who post information and resource on the Internet, without documentation of both evidence, fact, and source. I invite my readers to check out my sources, to learn for themselves the truth inherent within the words I write.
As is written, Hosea 4:6, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me; seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God. I will also forget their children."
Strong verbiage? Yes, it is. Therefore, I urge you to study God's word in order to learn of His will, and show thouself approved. For I truly believe Satan is literally planting leaders and teachers among the Christian flock. We are wise to remember God's words in Matthew 7:15, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." There are many ministries and New Age outreaches appearing on the spiritual scene within what many call "these last days," that have leaders and teachers who practice both occult and physic methods of magick, divination, and seer ship. Which is a practice God strictly forbids (Deut. 18).
I pray those who read my "free" educational research resources will gain knowledge and insight, as their spiritual eyes are opened to the wisdom and truth of God's word. Having been forewarned by the power and providence of the Holy Spirit, in relation to devious and deceptive means of manipulation by which these ministries and prophetic voices derive. I pray you pass your knowledge forward in love, to those whom God sends within your circle of influence.
God bless you,
Spiritual Discernment and Biblical Affirmation:
"To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn," Isaiah 8:20
"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them...," Matthew 7:15-16
"Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them," Ephesians 5:11
"The end of all things is near. Therefore be "clear minded" and self-controlled so that you can pray," 1st Peter 4:7
"Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him...." 1st Peter 5:8-9
"The Final Quest," which for the purpose of this article I shall hereto refer to as "TFQ," is but one book within a series by self-proclaimed prophet and author Rick Joyner. TFQ is an enchanted knight's tale that tugs on your emotional hearts string. And no wonder, for Joyner himself was knighted into the *Knights of Malta. TFQ lays a foundation using such pictorial word language as love, splendour, understanding, mercy, beauty - harmony, humility, unity, and power. And endless self devotion in a battle with swords drawn, for the Kingdom of God. The challenage of a heroic knight's tale and victory won, provide the reader with a mystical sense of courage, fortitude, and devoted human strength.
TFQ IS A DARK AND SINISTER TALE OF TWISTED AND PERVERTED GNOSTIC DOUBLETALK
However, one must leave their heightened emotional, joyful tears behind and face the hidden fear that indeed, Satan is a master of human deception. For within the pages of "TFQ" is a dark and sinister tale of twisted and perverted gnostic doubletalk and devious logic. Seemingly filled with hidden agenda. An esoteric word guide to other worldly dimensions of Satanic *Sephiroth Kabbalistic doctrine. Under the guise of humility, there gushes forth a gnostic, heathenistic pride. As Joyner becomes a knight to save the world, ushering in God's kingdom. Joyner writes on page 135 of TFQ, that the deceased Apostle Paul told him, "We are not your hope, You are now our hope." As Christians we are forbidden within God's word, to talk to the dead (necromancy). Which is a sin problem I shall address further into TFQ book reveiw.
I have read and review TFQ as one of the "Top Occult Pathwork" books ever to hit the Christian readers market. Even a novice of pagan and occult literature will notice Joyner's use of ritual, New Age jarragin ( esoteric - Oneness), necromancy (communicating with the dead), Lithomancy (color and stone divination), and metragromy (divination using visions received in a trace state), reincarnation (many lifetimes), and animal, angel spirit guides. With references to visions and trace states that coincide with those of occult practitioners of the out of body state and experence of "Astral Travel." A sense of other wordly demonic power ran through my body as I read Rick Joyner's book, TFQ. God help us all see through the light of your word, such un-holy decepttions.
Synthia Esther Confirms:
God states His people are destroyed due to the lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6).
One has only to read TFQ with the occult understanding and knowledge as set forth in the Sephiroth's ten spheres/emanations of the kabbalistic Tree of Life symbol, to understand the hidden occult imagery used and represented within TFQ. Quoting Joyner's eagle - Wisdom (59), "I am here to awaken these gifts in you, and many others like you, and I will teach you how to use them." Page 58, "As it grew closer I recognized the great white eagles that had flown from the Tree of Life."
* SEPHIROTH DEFINED
The Dictionary of the Esoteric, Watkins Publishing, Author Nevill Drury, page 281:
"The ten spheres or emanations on the kabbalistic Tree of Life, a symbol which depicts the divine energy of Creation proceeding like a "lightning flash" through ten different stages, culmination in physical manifestation. The sephiroth represent levels of spiritual reality both in the cosmos and in people because the Tree, metaphorically, is the "Body of God," and people are created in his image. ...The ten sephiroth, in descending order are Kether (the Crown); Chokmah (Wisdom); Binah (Understanding); Chesod (Mercy); Geburah (Power); Tiphareth (Beauty and Harmony; Netzach (Victory), Hod (Splendour); Yesod (Foundation); and Malkuth (the Kingdom).
"THERE WERE TWO TREES IN THE GARDEN," AUTHOR RICK JOYNER
"The False Teachings Of Rick Joyner," by Joseph R, Chambers, D.D., 1999. Chamber's confirms, "Look at his basic premise for the book, 'There Were Two Trees In The Garden.' His identification of the forbidden tree lays a false foundation for the entire book."
Rick Joyner writes, "The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is a powerful Biblical model of the Law. As the Apostle Paul declared, 'The power of sin is the law.' (1 Corinthians 15:56). This is because it is through the Law that we must derive our knowledge of good and evil. We may wonder how this knowledge brings death until we see the fruit. The knowledge of good and evil kills us by distracting us from the One who is the source of life: the Tree of Life - Jesus. The Tree of Knowledge causes us to focus our attention upon ourselves. Sin is empowered by the law; not just because the evil is revealed but the good as well. It drives us either to corruption or self-righteousness, both of which lead to death," (There Were Two Trees In The Garden, Rick Joyner, pp. 9-10)."
Chambers addresses Joyner's lack of Biblical adherence, "To suggest that this forbidden tree was the Laws of God as given to Moses or any other Bible writer is blasphemous. The "Ten Commandments" are the foundational truths and principles of all of God's revelation. This attack on "God's Laws" shows the direction of major deception in religious circles...."
* THE KNIGHTS OF MALTA
Rick Joyner's hero complex, and his fascination with Knights doesn't end within the pages of TFQ. From the pen of Rick Joyner, ( as posted on his Morning Star Ministries website ), "...I was shown that the Lord had preserved a remnant of true knights of the OSJ because they had a purpose in the great last day battle between light and darkness. One day I actually prayed that, even though I had never desired earthly honors or titles, I would like to become one of these knights. After this prayer, it seemed that hard a month went by and prophetic people began saying that they had seen me being Aknighted by the Lord."
According to Guy Stair Sainty, historiographer of the priory in the United States of the Most Venerable Order of St. John, the group Joyner joined has 'no connection whatsoever with any legitimate order of chivalry of that name. ...the order Joyner has joined is not the original Knights of Malta but 'one of more than 20 similar bodies which missuses the name of St. John (to distribute) invented titles...and worthless knighthoods.'" Sainty added that individuals who join the legitimate Knights of Malta group must be Roman Catholic and have a bishop's recommendation, ( "Issues In The Church," By Cedric Harmon - http://harvestnet.org/lookback/god'slightingrod.htm. ) There has been much written research into the Knights of Malta, all of which is " Extra-biblical knowledge".
HOLDING TRUE TO GOD'S WORD - OUR FIRM FOUNDATION
One can only conclude with works that do not hold true to God's word, that other worldly, deceptive voices were involved in the delusion. Deception is one of Satan's greatest tools (Revelation 12:9; Matthew 24:4,5,11, 24). Satan has a harlot church, which is contrary to God's"Bride of Christ" (Revelation 17:5). Satan does counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders (Revelation 16:14; Exodus 7:8-12). He has false prophets, apostles, and teachers (2nd Corinthians 11:13-14; 2nd Peter 2:1; Mark 13:22; Matthew 13:38). And Satan gives doctrines of deception for men to teach ( 1st Timothy 4:1). Satan has his messengers - who are demon's and humans (2nd Corinthians 11:13). He is a false christ, and the rival of God's Christ Jesus our Lord (1st John 2:18-22). "For the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever," Isaiah 40:8.
OCCULT PATH WORKING DEFINED:
An example of occult path working can be read by author Donald Michael Kraig, in his book "Modern Magick - Eleven Lessons in the High Magickal Arts," (page 490-494), as he describes going around an island and meeting different female godesses, learning lessons of experience. Kraig writes (page 494), The purpose of Path working is for information gathering. By questioning Higher Spiritual Entities (much like Rick Joyner does in TFQ ) it is possible to learn new rituals, new magickal techniques and new mystical information. Kraig writes (page 492), "We continue around the island, and I realized that what I have seen are the faces of the three-fold lunar Goddess of Paganism. This is natural, since before I started to study the Kabalah I had only studied Wicca or Witchcraft."
"THE FINAL QUEST," - GOING EVER HIGHER UP HIS MOUNTAIN, RICK JOYNER DEFINE'S HIS IMAGINATIVE GNOSTIC JOURNEY
The gifts of Prophecy are to be eagerly desired as spiritual gifts from God, offering up encouragement, comfort and strength (1st Corinthians 14:1-4). However, if a word of prophecy goes contrary to the word of God, it is the spirit of an antichrist, teaching false doctrines (Deuteronomy 13:1-4; 2nd Peter 2:1-3), with delusional deceptions coming forth from their own mind (Ezekiel 13:2-3; Jeremiah 14:14; Jeremiah 23:25-27; Jude 8; 2nd Peter 2:10.) Jesus warned that in the last days of Jerusalem there would be false prophets (Matthew 24:10-11). Paul warned the Ephesian elders that false prophets would arise from among them (Acts 20:29-30). God did not send them (Jeremiah 14:14-15).
By evidence of his own writing within TFQ, Rick Joyner paints a doorway word guide to psychic, occult path work, going ever higher up his mountain. Joyner writes on page 14, "Only Scriptures deserve to be considered infallible. As you read I pray that the Holy Spirit will lead you to the truth, and separate any chaff that may be present from the wheat." Like New Age Metaphysical converts, Rick Joyner applies God's word in part, mixing the leven with twisted double minded logic. A verse from God's word here, a lie of false knowledge there. Mix them all up, and you have "the doctrine of demons." To break one law was to break all laws, as is stated in James 2:10, "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." 1st John 3:4, "Sin is transgression of the law."
Joyner and those like him, call themselves, "Christian Mystic's." And much like metaphysical New Age author, Neal David Walsh, even has an in depth conversation with God, that goes against God's Holy Word. Joyner writes (page 156), "Always remember that compassion will remove the veils from your soul faster than anything else." Human compassion has nothing to do with the veil of your soul. The veil is lifted from our soul when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. The work of sin's redemption plan has already been done (Romans 5:6-11).
Joyner deems in a trance or dream vision God stating, "Love will be the power that destroys the works of the devil (page 158)." The devil was defeated on the Cross of Calvary by Jesus Christ's shed blood. Christ alone paid sin's redemption plan, as God's sacrificial lamb. Rick Joyner's conversation with God is erroneous. With far too many blasphemous, man made additions and contentions to God's word than I am able to address within this short article. Suffice to say, God issue's a warning concerning such sin.
GOD"S BIBLICAL WARNING:
"I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book; if anyone adds to them, God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book." - Revelation 22:18-19
TFQ - OCCULT SYMBOLISM AND HIDDEN KNOWLEDGE
The following is a "short list" of Rick Joyner's use of symbolism accompanied by noted occult references (one reference per subject matter for the purpose of this article), along with guided page bookmarks in Rick Joyner's book TFQ, of hidden knowledge (page 58).
Magician (Ceremonial or Ritual - *Swords), Joyner writes on page 26, "The higher we climbed, the larger both our shields and swords grew, and fewer of the enemy arrows could reach our positions."
* A Magician And Sword Use Defined:
The Dictionary of the Esoteric, Watkins Publishing, Author Nevill Drury, page 197:
"One skilled in the arts of magic. The term is generally applied to ceremonial or ritual magicians who invoke deities or spirits; make use of such symbolic regalia as cloaks, swords, cups, daggers, and wands; and claim special powers and supernatural insights."
Metragromy (Divination Using Visions Received In A Trace State), Joyner writes on page 64, * "I will be very close to you for a time, and then you must receive other *eagles in my place. Every eagle is different. It is together, not individually, that we have been given to know the secrets of the Lord."
* Because TFQ is contrary to God's word, Metragromy is my assumed source of Rick Joyner's trance / vision revelations. The structual verebage used by Joyner within the above referenced sentence example reiterates key points within TFQ. Those goals being clearly defined, established, and reaffirmed as secret knowledge, divination through eagle spirit guides, and the esoteric New Age Oneness theme (it is together, not individiually). This pattern follows Rick Joyner's Kingdom Theology /Dominion beliefs (also part of the Latter Rain teachings). Which declair and esteem "We Christians - the church"must fight in an end time battle in order to prepare the world for Christ's return. Another words, Christ cannot return and set up His kingdom until we prepare the kingdom, handing Him the Keys. This is also the commonality belief system of the New Age movement. Which issues a need within our worlds group-mind, to reach the ever higher spiritual steam of fourth dimension "Christ" consciousness.
God is not dependent on man to establish His Kingdom on earth. God's everlasting Kingdom will be the revelation and manifestation of the glory of the risen Christ (Daniel 7:14; Mark 9:1-11; 2nd Thessalonians 1:9-10; Matthew 13:43; Numbers 14;21). As King, all kingdoms of this world are to be subjugated, under his control, subdued and conquered by Him (Daniel 7:14; Psalm 72:11; 22:28; Ezekiel 21:27; Revelation 11:15-19). For those unlearned in God's word, they may began to seek the wisdom of Joyner's eagle spirit (Wisdom is the name of the eagle spirit who ends up being the Lord)... as the reader is lead through occult themes, instead of the simple truth, wisdom, and understanding of God's Holy Word.
New Age Oneness - Joyner writes on page 62: "We are all one. In the euphoria still left from the worship, this brief teaching seemed almost *esoteric, yet I knew that it was very basic."
Esoteric "Oneness" Defined:
The "Oneness" movement has even entered several evangelical and mainstream ministries. One of which is, Rick Joyner's "Morning Star Ministries." Lucifer is referred to in the Bible by many names, including but not limited to, "Day star, Morning Star, Light bearer, Shinning one (Isaiah 14:12). Reading Joyner's book, "The Final Quest," takes one into a metaphysical, occult wonderland complete with Eagle Spirit Guides. Joyner seems to have a lot in common with occult author, Rosemary Altea (The Eagle And The Rose), and her "Grey Eagle" spirit guide.
Joyner confirms the eagle's hidden truths (page 58), "I carefully approached the eagle who had landed near me because his presence was so awesome. When he looked at me with his penetrating eyes, I knew I could hide nothing from him. His eyes were so fierce and resolute that I trembled as *chills ran through me just from looking at them. Before I could even ask, he answered me. You want to know who we are. We are the hidden prophets who have been kept for this hour. We are the eyes of those who have been given the divenly powerful weapons." Such is human wisdom within the academic logic of esoteric "hidden" knowledge.
* To learn more about this god forsaken "esoteric teaching," please reference our New Age - Oneness page: "New Age - Oneness"
Necromancy (Communicating With The Dead), Joyner writes on page 114, "In this first multitude I saw many other men and women of God from both my own time and history. I stopped and talked to many more."
Reincarnation (Law of Karma, Many Lifetimes) - Joyner writes on page 106: "I then began to feel that all of my study and seeking on earth had only lead me forward at a snails pace. How could many lifetimes prepare me for the judgment?"
Lithomancy (Color And Stone Divination) - Stone Divination, Joyner writes on page 71: "When you touch the stones we are able to see a little of what you see, and feel a little of what you feel," said the angel. "We know that all of these stones are great treasures, and all of the revelations they contain are priceless..."
The Dictionary of the Esoteric, Watkins Publishing, Nevill Drury, page 185:
"Divination by means of precious stones."
Stone Use & Relation:
R. Laird Harris, Gleason L. Archer Jr., Bruce K. Waltke, "Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament," The Moody Bible Institute, page 7, "Stones are common in the middle east, and the word occurs more than 275 times in the Hebrew and Aramaic of the Bible. In all but a few places, ...the meaning is simply 'stone.' There is no reference in the Bible using stones as a divination tool.
Stone Bible Reference:
Hosea 10:1-2, "... As his fruit increased he built more alters; as his land prospered, he adorned his sacred stones. Their heart is deceitful, and now they must bear their guilt. The Lord will demolish their altars and destroy their sacred stones."
* Philosopher's Stone, Joyner writes on page 41, "As we worshiped, a golden glow began to emanate from the Lord. Then there was silver around the gold. Then colors, the richness of which I have never seen with my natural eyes, enveloped us all."
* The Philosopher's Stone Defined:
Dictionary of the Esoteric, Watkins Publishing, Author Nevill Drury, page 249:
"In alchemy, the so called prima materia or First Substance from which all other metals derived and which could therefore be used to transmute base metals into gold or silver. It was associated with the Elixir of Life and could only be recognized by initiates."
Lithomancy Color Divination, Joyner writes on page 73: "The time that I spent at the red stone was the most painful that I have ever experienced. Many times I simply could not take anymore but had to withdraw my hand. Several times I went back to the blue or green stones to rejuvenate my soul..."
Gaia Theory - Pantheism, Joyner writes on page 69, "As I touched the green stone I began to see the earth in rich and spectacular colors. They grew in richness the longer I had my hand on the stone, and my love for all that I saw also grew. Then I began to see a *harmony between all living things on a level that I had never seen before. Then I began to see the glory of the Lord in the creation. It began to grow until again I had to step away because of the intensity. ...I did know that my comprehension of God and His universe had grown substantially by just touching these two stones, and there were many, many more to touch."
* New Age Gnostic Knowledge, Concepts, And Beliefs Claim The Same:
"Contance Cumbey, "The Hidden Dangers Of The Rainbow - The New Age Movement And Our Coming Age Of Barabarism," Huntington House Inc., pages 167-168, quoting Lewis Thomas' "The Lives of a Cell" New Age logic:
"We simply cannot escape from our embeddness in nature or nature's embeddness in us. Therefore, our knowledge seems to indicate that we can no longer speak of humanity being saved out of nature; we are redeemed in nature, not apart from it. In some way, the Christian must include the rest of creation in his or her own salvation." This is a pagan "nature worship" belief system.
* Levels, Joyner writes on pages 34-35, "Almost without warning we came to a level that opened up into a garden. ...As soon as I enter I saw a tree that I knew was the Tree of Life. Page 35, "One of the angels called out, "Those who make it to this level, who know the Father's love, can eat.' I did not realize how hungry I was. When I tasted the fruit, it was better than anything I had ever tasted,..."
* Doors, Joyner writes on page 70: Considered relevant by Joyner's numerous usage and verbiage of different doors and levels. Joyner writes concerning these appealing doors (page 70), "When the angel I had called them "inviting" I felt that he had quite understated their appeal. I badly wanted to go through each one, but my curiosity about the 'terrible door' kept me moving."
* Theosophy Doors and Levels Defined:
The Dictionary of the Esoteric, Watkins Publishing, Author Nevill Drury, page 302:
"From the Greek, theos, "a god", sophos : "wise", divine wisdom. The term is used to describe a number of esoteric and mystical systems that describe the relationship of human beings to the universe and the Godhead (e.g. Gnosticism, Neoplatonism, Kabbalah). Usually, these belief systems describe emanations from the Infinite God, or Supreme Being, who reveals different aspects of transcendent reality through various intermediary deities, spirits, "intelligences", levels of manifestation."
Quoting Joyner' s TFQ (page 52), "Very few from the higher levels ever reached out to help others come to the mountain, but these did,"
Astral Travel, Joyner writes on page 44, "Here the 'real world' was not real, and the spiritual realm was so much more real that I just could not imagine going back to the other. I was gripped both with wonder and a terrible fear that I might wake up at any moment and find it was all just a dream. Wisdom understood what was going on inside of me. 'You are dreaming,' he said. "But this dream is more real than what you think of as real.'"
* Astral Travel Defined:
The Dictionary of the Esoteric, Author Nevill Drury, Watkins Publishing, pages 210-211:
"Sometimes known as the out of body experience. Astral travel is the conscious separation of the astral body from the physical body resulting in an altered state of consciousness, and sometimes in different qualities of perception. Astral travel is achieved by a variety of active imagination techniques or trance-inducing methods. ...Astral travel has been reported by some subjects who experience the near-death experience (i.e. those who, as a result of an accident or operation, are declared clinically dead, but subsequently revive). Typically, near death subjects may witness details of their operation or resuscitation, as if from a location several feet above their body. They may report details of conversations among hospital staff and other activities that are subsequently verified. Sometimes astral travel also has a mythic dimension, where subjects report "heaven and hell" imagery during an out-of-the body experience. This may indicate that subjects are engaged in a dissociative encounter with positive and negative archetypal imagery from the unconscious mind."
Akashic Records, Joyner writes on page 98, "When I return to earth, will I be able to discern history accurately because I have been here?"
* Akashic Records Defined:
The Dictionary of the Esoteric, Author Nevill Drury, Watkins Publishing, pages7:
"Theosophical concept for an astral memory of all events, thoughts, and emotions that have arisen since the world began. Psychics are said to be able to tune into this dimension and receive authentic impressions of past ages."
Angel Spirit Guides, Joyner writes on page 26, "Another great angel named Wisdom then appeared and directed us to fight from the mountain behind us."
Animal Spirit Guides, Joyner writes on page 65, "The *eagle then rose up from the rock on which he had perched, and he soared over to the edge of the level on which we stood. 'Come,' he said. As I approached him I saw steps that led down to the very base of the mountain, and a small door." Wisdom was one of the Eagles name, who turned out to be the Lord.
* Eagles As Spirit Guides, A Symbolism Of The Occult:
Dictionary of the Esoteric, Nevill Drury, Watkins Publishing, Page 83, Term: Eagle - Reads:
Eagle's symbolize many occult associations. The eagle is linked in astrology to Scorpio, which with Taurus, Leo and Aquarious is one of the "fixed" signs of the zodiac. Occultists also identify these signs with the four letters of the sacred Tetragrammaton YHVH, the eagle being assoicated with the first H. In general terms, the eagle symbolizes height (and therefore transcendence), light, spirit, and the powers of the imagination."

Article: "Shamanism in the Church" - TBC staff - MV, Occult "Eagle Spirituality" Manifests in Popular "Prophetic" Ministries
" So what's the fuss? Is animal symbology inherently evil?
" No, even Scripture makes generous use of animals as symbols - from love poems in The Song of Songs to comforting analogies of the Lord: "hide me under the shadow of they wings" (Ps/ 17"8b) et al. Take the eagle, for example. Revered as a national symbol by various countries, Scripture makes several positive references to the eagle. One of the most popular verses cited for encouragement is 'they shall mount up with wings like eagles...' (Is. 40:31). Many are comforted by the eagle as a symbol of patriotism and American heritage (which is often equated with Christianity).
"Fewer though, take note of passages that portray the eagle in a negative light, or realize that the eagle doubles as a Masonic symbol of the phoenix, representing 'rebirth through fire' in occult mythology. In addition to being an 'unclean' animal, Scripture also contains a number of negative references to the eagle ('They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle that hasteth to the prey' (Job 9:26) Obadiah even contains a reference to Edom as an eagle, apparently as a type of Lucifer: 'The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high: that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground? Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord' (Ob 1:3-4). "
This article continues to address the neo-prophets and apostles interest in such Eagle Symbolism...
"So why do the neo-prophets and apostles of today use the eagle as a symbol of choice?
"Many 'prophetic' ministries associate eagles with tremendous natural vision and observable natural vision and observable qualities of 'rising above;' but like shamans and seers-ancient and modern-they err in assigning to eagles spiritual qualities. An occult website declares the eagle's role is that of an 'illuminating force' that rises on the east wind, whose gift is that of 'seeing hidden spiritual truths' and 'whose strength is by its connection to spirit guides."

DREAMS, TRANCES, AND ASTRAL TRAVEL
The Bible tells us in Numbers 12:6, ... he said, "Listen to my words: When a prophet of the Lord is among you, I reveal myself to him in visions, I speak to him in dreams." When this happens, "God sent dreams and vision always confirm His word." This is not the case with Rick Joyner's revelations.
In TFQ on page 13, Joyner's claims his visions and trances illuminated doctrine that is taught in Scripture, but is not clearly seen. Comparing his illuminations and revelation "visions" (page 10), to those experienced by the apostles as they wrote the New Testament epistles, with the trance level being higher (page 11). Under the guise of dreams and trance, (page 12) of TFQ; "In the dream and the trances, I had what I consider to be greatly magnified gifts of discernment and words of knowledge, ...operating on a level that I have never personally experienced in 'real life.'"
Yet many of Joyner's revelations add to, and are grossly contrary to the word of God. The Bible contains 66 books that "do not contradict each other." God cannot lie, and it is by God's truth that we are lead to godliness (Titus 1:2). In reading TFQ, the symbolically often used by Joyner, appears in description to be most reminiscent of the metaphysical workings of "Astral Travel," into other worldly veins of experience, supposed higher "Fourth Dimension" consciousness. Astral Travel is also the metaphysical workings of lucid dreaming and out of body projection. Joyner acknowledges (page 11), "Trances are like dreaming when you are awake. Instead of just seeing a 'screen' like an open vision, you feel like you are in the movie, that you are actually there in a strange way. Trances can range from those that are rather mild, so that you are still conscious of your physical surroundings, and can even still interact with them, to those when you feel like you are literally in the place of your vision."
As we look to the metaphysical explanation of such vision and other worldly trances, which Joyner readily admits (page 11), he can go into "almost immediately" when he leaves and returns to the *mountain cabin where many of his "trances" began. It was there he sought the Lord in solitude. Let us remind ourselves, anything (such as Joyner's TFQ book), that goes against God's word, "Is Not Of God (Isaiah 8:20)."
* Side Note:
Joyner went to a "mountain cabin to seek the Lord," where he reports in TFQ his trace and vision states occurred (page 11), " Most of it came on the level where I was still conscious of my surroundings, and could even interact with them, such as answering the phone. When they were interrupted, or when things got so intense that I would have to get up and walk around, when I sat back down I would immediately be right back where I had left off."
* Most occult path work includes reaching ever higher levels and paths of visionary spiritual enlightenment. Path working and symbolism most often includes (although it is different for every aspirant) going up and around a mountain, such as Joyner does in "TFQ," or crossing, circling the sea, to use another analogy.
* Mountains - Natural Heights:
Revelation 21:10, "And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and height, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God." Likewise we read concerning Satan's agenda in Matthew 4:7-11, Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. "All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me." Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written; "Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only. Then the devil left Him, and the angels came and attended Him."
Pagan places were usually located on natural heights (1st Samuel 9:13; 10:5; 1st Kings 11:7; 2nd Kings 17:9; 29; 23:5, 8). From the pen of Dion Fortune, "Physic Self-Defense," Samuel Weisner Inc., page 163 we read, " Occultist believe and report that mountains and *large bodies of water should be avoided ... for a person suffering from psychical trouble. ...People are often advised to go away into the country on this account, but for the victim of an occult attack to go into the depths of the country may not be the wisest thing, because elemental forces are much more potent away from towns..."
Satan uses counterfeit deceptions (2nd Corinthians 2:11; 11:13-15; Revelation 12:9). Some occultist relate the use of water yielding spirit to such Biblical examples as, "John on the Island of Patmos" (surrounded by water), where/when he received by way of God's Spirit Vision, the Biblical book of "Revelation." A few other Biblical references concerning water and its spiritual connection is found in Acts 8:39, "When they came up out of the water, the *Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing." And Luke 3:22, "When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."
The Spirit of the Lord prompted Philip's miraculous transportation (which was physical - not the "soul" linked-separation of occult practitioners during astral travel trips). Philip was later seen at Azotus, preaching the gospel.
DION FORTUNE, CONSIDERED A FOREMOST AUTHORITY ON ESOTERIC KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE, WAS BOTH A PSYCHOLOGIST AND OCCULT PRACTITIONER
Dion Fortune, (considered a foremost esoteric authority, Fortune was both a psychologist and occult practitioner), author of the book, "Psychic Self- Defense," Samuel Weiser, Inc., page 130, in reference to recurrence of openings into the world of occult manifestations, which includes such visions and trances, "We need to realize that the human consciousness is not a closed vessel, but like the body, has a continual intake and output. The cosmic forces are circulating through it all the time, like sea water through a living sponge. Whatever emotional state may arise within us is reinforced from outside. The subjective self only has the kindling, the Cosmos supplies the fuel. Once the fire is started, the cosmic forces of the appropriate type will stoke it." God will protect you from such forces, claim His word, stand firm, and watch Him deliver you!
WHAT TURNS ON THE OCCULT FORCES OF VISUAL TRANCE, ILLUSIONS, AND METAPHYSICAL INSPIRATION?
Fortune writes on page 126, "...we are now in a position to assess accurately the part played by the Unseen. What happens when a neurotic takes up occultism? We can best answer this question by considering what happens when a normal person takes up occultism. He learns for the first time of the existence of the Invisible Worlds and begins to think about them. Immediately he does this he comes into touch with them. At first he may not be able to perceive them consciously; nevertheless he is feeling them subconsciously and they are affecting him. His life shows this to the close observer in a thousand ways."
Rick Joyner mentions both God and His word within TFQ. How then, can his visions, trance, and writings, not be from / of God?
Anything, person, written work, revelation, that goes contrary to the word of God is "not" of God. In his book "Charismatic Chaos," - Zondervan Publishing House, John F. MacArthur, Jr. addresses this very question (page 64):
"Some charismatics would say that people misunderstand what they mean by prophetic utterance and new revelation. ...What is happening, they assume, is the clarifying of Scripture as it is applied or directed to a contemporary setting, such as the prophecy of Agabus in Acts 11:28. The line between clarifying Scripture and adding to it is a thin one. ...Scripture is clarified as it is carefully and diligently studied. (See the account of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8:28-35.) There are no shortcuts to interpreting God's Word accurately (ef. Acts 17:11; 2 Tim. 2:15). Christians must not play fast and loose with the issues of inspiration and revelation. ...As we have seen, men who professed to speak for god but spoke their own opinions were to be executed under the Old Testament law (Deut. 13:1-5). New Testament believers are also urged to test the spirits and judge all supposed prophecies, shunning false prophets and heretics (1 John 4:1; 1 Cor. 14:29)."
TFQ NEW REVELATIONS - A VICE AND VOICE OF DECEPTION
Remember, among many other occult and pagan practices (as due noted within this book review), Rick Joyner spoke to the dead in TFQ, which is a practice God strictly forbids (Deuteronomy 18:11). Rick Joyner supposedly spoke in depth with the apostle Paul (page 131), and relates often to the terminology and proclamation of "Christian Mystic's," on his "Morning Star Ministries," website. Rick Joyner also claims on pages 10-11 of TFQ, through his altered state of consciousness during trance and visions... this level of inspiration and knowledge is liken to, or "above" that of the apostles who wrote the New Testament. Likewise, the occultist and New Agers also "fully acknowledge" and give noted reverence to Christ Jesus and His Holy Spirit, noting He is but one of many gods. And they channel their many gods and goddesses with new revelation!
When men attribute their words coming forth form God's Holy Inspiration, they welcome in mass confusion, and other worldly vice. Such words of revelation come forth from a false antichrist spirit, which minimize and denies the absolute sovereignty and authority of God's Scripture. As MacArthur confirms on page 65, "The terms and concepts of Ephesians 5:18-19 and 2 Peter 1:21 are not to be mixed."
THE OCCULTIST DOES NOT IGNOR THE CHRIST FORCE, AND ACKNOWLEDGES THERE HAVE BEEN MANY CHRISTS
Author Contance Cumbey, "The Hidden Dangers Of The Rainbow - The New Age Movement And Our coming Age Of Barabarism," Huntington House Inc., page 175, "The Bible says that Jesus is the Light of the World. Occultists say that light comes from our own "higher selves." The Bible says that Jesus is the only Christ. Occultists say there have been many Christs."
Occult author, Dion Fortune writes concerning this matter (page 204), "The occultest does not ignore the Christ-force, however; he recognizes it as among the hierachy of supreme forces of the universe, although he may not be prepared to assign to it the exclusive position which it occupies in the heart of the Christian Mystic. In the Western Tradition it is symbolised by Tiphareth, the central Sephira of the Ten Holy Sephiroth of the Qabalistic Tree of Life. ...The Christ-force is the equilibriating, compensating, healing, redeeming, purigying factor of the universe. It should be invoked in every operation of psychic self-defense where any human element, incarnate or discarnate, is concerned. Where non-human elements, such as elementals, thought-forms, or the Qlippoth, have to be dealt with, it is the power of God the Father, as Creator of the Universe, that is invoked. His supremacy over all the kingdoms of nature, visible and invisible, being affirmed. God the Holy Ghost is the force that is employed in initiations, and it should not be invoked during times of psychic difficulty, as its influence will tend to intensify the condition and render the veil yet thinner.'"
Other than my noted link reference within TFQ to the 10 spheres or emanations on the Sephiroth kabbalistic "Tree of Life." Another interesting noted metaphysical concept that compares to Joyner's use of angels and their yielded wisdom, powers, and virtues within "TFQ," are the writings used in the esoteric work, "Arbatel of Magick ".... "considered an important medieval work of ceremonial magic first published in Latin in Basle (1575) and subsequently translated into English by Robert Turner (London, 1655). The book names seven angels as spiritual beings for the aspiring magician to contact, and these angels are identified with celestial bodies. The Arbatel probides the magical sigils for these entities, and also describes their special powers and virtues," (The Dictionary of the Esoteric, Nevill Drury, Watkins Publishing). Much like esoteric angel spirit guides.
How does one enter into such esoteric workings so as to create path working visions of illusion?
Most often through visualization and imagination techniques of astral travel, using Tarot Cards, or the Kabbalah's Occult "Tree of Life."
Rick Joyner references "The Tree of Life" throughout his book, "TFQ." Since Joyner's visions do not line up with the word of God and have more in common with New Age esoteric deceptions, we do not know if he too was relying on the Kabbalah's "Tree of Life," as his source of delusional trance revelation. Only God and Rick Joyner know the answer to this question. As noted, what we do know is that TFQ book by Rick Joyner contains an abundance of occult imagery, symbolism, and what is termed "esoteric" hidden knowledge. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to compute the facts that the visions Rick Joyner encountered, and the writen words of TFQ are in fact... not only contrary to God's word, but more inline with occult methods of divination, magick, and ritual.
Yet readers of TFQ are told by Rick Joyner's double minded logic on page 127, "To be completely open to others really will open our hearts and minds to realms we do not now even know exist. This is what Satan is attempting to counterfeit through the New Age Movement." This is just another means of Joyner's delusional "doubletalk." He warns the reader of TFQ concerning the New Age movement and sheep in wolves clothing, while his own book, TFQ serves to feed God's sheep another false word. A word and doctrine that follows known and documented concepts within the New Age movement!
THE NEW AGE MYSTICAL EXPERIENCE = HUMAN WISDOM IN THE ACADEMIC'S OF ESOTERIC HIDDEN KNOWLEDGE AND PHILOSOPHY.
CONSTANCE CUMBEY - WRITES ABOUT THE NEW AGE MOVEMENT AND MYSTICAL EXPERIENCES...
"Contance Cumbey is author of the book, "The Hidden Dangers Of The Rainbow - The New Age Movement And Our Coming Age Of Barabarism," Huntington House Inc., page 159. Cumbey notes, "The glue that binds the New Agers together seems to be common mystical experiences. Visualization and hypnotism are keys to the occult. It may be all too often the case that they are literally seeing and hearing things that the rest of us are not."
PAUL KURTZ - A CRITIQUE OF BELIEF IN GOD
Philosophy Paradox and Discovery, Fourth Edition, Mcgraw Hill, Thomas A. Shipka And Arthur J. Minton, page 35-36:
The Mystical Experience
Paul Kurtz reasons, "The practical question to raise is whether those who have not had such experiences should accept the secondhand testimony of those who claim they have. There are serious objections to doing so, and largely because the experience, almost by definition, resists any kind of independent corroboration. Mysticism is irremediably introspective and subjective. According to mystics as diverse as St. Theresa, St. John of the Cross, Meister Eckhart, and Plotinus, such an experience begins by a process of introversion or turning within to the "inner self." The knowledge allegedly derived is immediate and direct, and it is not mediated by representative ideas, cognitive or discursive symbols. It is, we are told, indubitable in its force, yet ineffable. Such experiences are seen to involve an involuntary and unconscious trance like state that may culminate in a kind of ecstatic bliss, a sense of peace, blessedness, or joy. Mystics often have the impression that they have left their bodies. ...This is all the more so when we realize that mystics tend to interpret their experiences in terms of the cultural and religious traditions within their environment. Thus appeal to mysticism does not provide adequate evidence for the claim that God exists."
JOHN F. MACARTHUR JR., "ASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL - WHEN THE CHURCH BECOMES LIKE THE WORLD," PAGE 110-111:
Macarthur states, "What Paul opposed was the human wisdom behind worldly philosophy: 'Has God made foolish the wisdom of the world?' (1st Corinthians 1:20). In another place Paul wrote, 'Our proud confidence is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you' ( 2nd Corinthians 1:12). In contrast to Paul, contemporary evangelicalism has elevated human opinion and worldly, fleshly wisdom to an undue level. For most of the past century, evangelical theology has bowed at the shrine of academia, attempting to assimilate secular theology, philosophy, politics, psychology, moral relativism, evolutionary theory, and every other academic fad. Finding those things incompatible with the Bible and the simplicity of the gospel, Christians have too often been willing to twist and shape divine truth to try to make it fit. Multitudes have thus been drawn away from singular devotion to biblical doctrine to embrace human wisdom."
THE HOLY BIBLE (KJV), NUMBERS 12:6; ISAIAH 8:20; JEREMIAH 23:16-18, 21-23)
Numbers 12:6, he said, "Listen to my words: When a prophet of the Lord is among you, I reveal myself to him in visions, I speak to him in dreams."
Isaiah 8:20, "To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word (Bible), they have no light of dawn."
Jeremiah 16-18, "Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord. They say still unto them that despise, The Lord hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you. Who stood in the counsel of the Lord, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?"
v. 21-23, "I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings. Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off?"
"The false prophets according to Jeremiah, mock "the ancient paths" (Jeremiah 6:16), They are self-willed spirits who assure their followers that their direct insight or revelation is superior to the wisdom, orthodoxy, and knowledge of historic Christianity. The true prophet does not invent new theories-particularly theories which directly contradict the plain teaching of Scripture." - "Does The Bible Support A Doctrine of The Point-Of-Contact?," Third Edition, author Rev. Robert S. Liichow, page 64.
HOT AND COLD DOUBLETALK OF CHAOS AND CONFUSION
TFQ is filled with the likes of such un-biblical chaos and confusion. God is not a God of confusion, but of peace (1st Corinthians 14:33). Woe to those who come as sheep in wolves clothing, fleeching God's flock (Matthew 7:15). It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck, then to cause one of God's little ones to sin (Mark 9:42). As for those who are double minded? "...Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded," (James 4:8). "That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord, he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does," (James 1:7-8). "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are luke-warm - neither hot nor cold - I am about to spit you out of my mouth," (Revelation 3:15-16).
CONTRARY TO BIBLICAL TRUTH - A SPIRIT OF DECEPTION
"For the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever." Isaiah 40:8.
Pastor Joseph Cambers writes concerning Rick Joyner's calling of the saints to battle (Epic Battles Of The Last Days, Rick Joyner, p. 14), in his article titled, "The Toronto Blessing Called An Altered State Of Consciousness":
"This confused jargon is so utterly contrary to Biblical truth that it would be laughable if not for its deception. Mr. Joyner mixes a little bit of truth that applies to the future Millennium after Jesus returns to establish His Kingdom with Kingdom Dominion Theology. ....No wonder they are angry with Bible-believing Christians. Our refusal to give up our conviction that this world is a sinking Titanic and needs God's judgment is hindering their effort to defeat the devil in the heavenlies and establish their earthly kingdom. There is a spirit in the entire doctrine that is foreign to Scripture."
Chambers confirms, " ...The Lord has already defeated our enemies. He could have banished them to hell on the day of his resurrection, but He left them here for us because He wants His bride to share the honor! In these last days she will surely be, "as awesome as an army with banners (Song of Solomn 6:10).
THE BATTLE IS THE LORDS
God states His people are destroyed due to the lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Unless Christian's begin to cherish, read, and learn God's word for themselves, they will always be deceived. I am reminded of Rick Joyner's battle scenario within the pages of TFQ, in direct relation to God's word. From Joyner's pen we read (page 37), "The Lord is now preparing a leadership that will be willing to fight a spiritual civil war in order to set men free." Jesus Christ set men free on the Cross of Calvary. God alone holds the keys to His kingdom.
To Joyner's knight's tale I reply, But you have planted wickedness, you have reaped evil, you have eaten of the fruit of deception. Because you have depended on your own strength and on your many warriors, the roar of battle will rise against your people, so that all your fortresses will be devastated - (Hosea 10:13-14). "Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God," (2nd Corinthians 4:2).
JUST AS IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF NOAH, SO ALSO WILL IT BE IN THE DAYS OF THE SON OF MAN
"Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed than all. It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But the day Lot left Sadom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed. ....When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:26-30; 18: 8).
THE END TIME BATTLE IS THE LORDS, FOR HE MAKES WARS CEASE TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH - PSALM 46:9
"I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice He judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on His head are many crowns. He has a name written on Him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following Him, ridding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of His mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On His robe and on His theigh He has this name written: King of Kings and Lord of Lords," (Revelation 19:11-16). He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth (Psalms 46:9). God is the King of all the earth; who reigns over the nations, seated on His holy throne. ...He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet (Psalm 47:2-3).
"Then I saw the beast and kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse and His army. But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous sings on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. The test of them were killed with the sword that came out ot the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themsleves on their flesh," (Revelation 19:19-21). When one reads the ending they know "who"wins the war for His people. His name is Jesus Christ. And He is Lord! All hail King Jesus, for He is greatly exalted (Psalm 47:9), and most worthy of our praise (Psalm 48:1)
