Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before HIm. God is our refuge. - Psalm 62:8
At times I reflect on my past mistakes, and in prayer say thanks to God for leading, and guiding my way straight (Proverbs 3:6). Indeed, God and the power of His holy spirit is the light that enables all things to work for good (Gen. 50:20). Dealing with disappointment is never easy. I am reminded of the story of Habakkuk, the prophet who cried out to God because of how corrupt the people of Judah were. Faced with these terrible problems, Habakkuk, could not understand why people of his time had turned from their Creator and desired to pursue a course of evil. Furthermore, why would a Holy God allow such immorality to abound?
God's response to Habakkuk? Things were going to get much worst before they got better. God delivered the people of Judah into the enemies hand because of their desire to do evil in His sight. Sin has consequences. It is God's will to turn us away from Sin, and back on course with His holy plan for our life. He desires to give us a life filled with hope and a future (Jere. 29:11). However, when we allow sin to rule our life, we live in sorrows snare, just like the people of Judah, whom God loved. He allowed the Babylonians, Judahs enemy, to overtake them. Habakkuk did not fully understand God's will and ways allowing such a tough love course of action to occur. Nonetheless, he had the sense to realize God was the one who was in control, and He alone knew best. Oh, how I have come to this same resolve so many times in my life.
I often hear and read many complaints from unbelievers who profess the Christian faith is filled with rules, based on a foundation of fear. Nothing could be further from the truth! If it were not for the grace, mercy, of God, none of us would grow to know His tough love to be the greatest "agape" (purest - holy) love in the entire universe. He creates beauty for our ashes, turns our sorrow into joy. By the power of His Holy Spirit, who is our helper, the true light worker of our soul and spirit, we learn like Habakkuk, to trust in Yahweh for He is Good. His faithful love eternal. - Psalm 100:5
